“Environs and the People that Grace them” – my motto encompassing all my art and collections
A Sneak Peek into my new collection I am building: Curious Psychology. This first piece is called, “Jersey Girl” oil on canvas, 12x12inches, focused on the portrayal of her boisterous spicy personality. The face resting on the hand in a relaxed but active manner pulls the attention of the viewer to the face which seems to stare out with a bit of sass and challenge.

Curious Psychology will be a series, to depict in paint and charcoal the gesture of the body, the face, and the hands. I aim to paint the deep mind thoughts that cause the body to move, to settle, to express or not to express. As I paint I want to understand the person behind their external appearance. Often times the hidden thoughts are expressed when a person believes they are unobserved. Others, wear their thoughts as visible ornaments. Both, I seek to paint using planes, likenesses, and impressions.
This series is aimed to be complete and ready for revealing and exhibition in a year: March 2026. This blog is a quick glimpse into the beginnings of this project. Watch for snippets of this series as it progresses through the year. In the meantime I will be focusing on my other two series: Twirl and On Light, On Home, On Life. You can see the completed pieces for these series on my website: www.tarasood.com.
